Elon hosts regional Envirothon competition

The Elon University Center for Environmental Studies hosted the regional Envirothon competition on March 25, 2009, with more than 300 middle and high school students visiting the campus.

Students spent the morning working with natural resource professionals who shared lessons about wildlife, soils, water quality, air quality and current environmental issues. In the afternoon, students participated in a competition testing their environmental knowledge and awareness.

The sponsoring organizations included the N.C. Soil and Water Districts and the U.S. Natural Resource Conservation Service. Teachers visited with Elon faculty and learned about the campus and environmental opportunities at Elon.
