Burundi was greatly affected by the genocide in Rwanda and many families since have been forced to live in some of the worst conditions imaginable. Many kids in Burundi because their parents have died in these conditions, are forced to live as orphans in the streets of Burundi’s capital Bujumbura.
Goretti Kurgat, on April 20 at 8 p.m. in McEwen 011, will talk about her experiences in the country where she grew up in and the desperate situation that many of these kids are currently in.
