Elon law students recognized for volunteer service through tax assistance program

The volunteer work of 18 Elon law students, helping low and middle-income residents in the region to file thier tax returns, is featured in the Sunday, April 19 edition of the Greensboro News & Record.

The article, by News & Record columnist Jeri Rowe, is titled “Law School program brings real world into focus.”

In it, the achievements of Elon law students who provided free tax assistance in partnership with Legal Aid of North Carolina are detailed.  These achievements include saving clients $6,620 in tax preparation fees, assisting clients in obtaining $31,033 in federal refunds and $3,910 in state refunds, and helping clients to find $10,830 in earned income tax credits.
