Incoming freshmen enjoy “Adventures in Leadership”

For two weeks this month, 64 rising freshmen participated in the First Year Summer Experience trip Adventures in Leadership.

Students traveled to West Virginia as part of the five-day program.

The programs took place July 13-18 and July 20-25. Upon arrival on campus, students camped at the Elon Challenge Course and completed low ropes team-building elements. The groups then traveled to Hico, W.V., for white water rafting on the New River, rock climbing, rappelling, hiking and camping.

The group spend five days bonding and learning more about what to expect in college.

Current Elon students served as facilitators for the trip including, Mary Rebecca Anderson, Steffen Bredahl, Elise Delmerico, Erik Higbee, Brandon Landreth, Katie Link, Laura McCabe and Rachel Perron. Abby Bassett served as the student coordinator, Mallory Anderson and Chris Myers were the staff advisors, and Carol Smith and Jason Springer were faculty advisors.

Activities included rock climbing, hiking and camping.
