Greg Seel ’81 to ride for MS Society to honor fellow alum

Burlington assistant police chief Greg Seel ’81 will ride in the 24th annual Bike MS: BB&T Tour to Tanglewood September 26-27 in honor of his Sigma Phi Epsilon big brother, William Newman ’79.  Newman is a board member of the central North Carolina chapter of the Multiple Sclerosis Society and is living with MS.

The Tour to Tanglewood is a two-day, 90-mile cycling event that raises funds to support people living with MS in central North Carolina and throughout the United States.

This is Seel’s first year participating in the Tour to Tanglewood.

Newman was diagnosed with MS shortly after graduation. Each year Newman’s MS progressed, Seel became more motivated to ride and to help raise money and awareness for the MS Society.

“I have really enjoyed getting out there and making the effort,” Seel said. “Whenever I think about how difficult the ride will be, I just think about William and all the others with MS and the miles just start to seem insignificant.”

Seel is hoping that his ride will inspire people to do three things; bring awareness to MS, keep the Tour to Tanglewood riders in mind in the last weekend of September and donate to the cuase.  To donate please visit the link to the right.
