Family and friends of Matthew J. Ford ’04 will gather near the Pi Kappa Phi house in Loy Center on Wednesday, October 7, on the first anniversary of his death. Associate Chaplain Phil Smith will lead a brief service and the family will plant an oak tree near the fraternity house in Ford’s memory.
The gathering begins at 1 p.m.
Ford died October 7, 2008, in an accident at Southland Electrical Supply in Burlington. He had interned with Southland while an Elon student and was hired by the firm when he graduated in May 2004. In Ford’s memory, friends and family have established a scholarship at Elon which will be awarded to a student majoring in computing sciences.
