Tom Mould part of team to receive $75,000 grant from Teagle Foundation

Elon University associate professor Tom Mould is one of nine folklorists from colleges and institutes across the nation to be part of a team that received a $75,000 grant to bring together scholars to discuss a “big question” of central importance to the humanities or social sciences.

Elon awarded grant by the National Endowment for the Humanities

Elon University has received a grant of nearly $116,000 from the National Endowment for the Humanities to organize two history seminars next summer for community college professors from across the nation. Assistant professor John Beck authored the grant proposal and will co-direct the project with Jim Bissett, the William J. Story, Sr. Professor at Elon University.

Quaintance, CEO and chief design officer of Quaintance-Weaver Restaurants and Hotels, offered a paradoxical observation in his address to open Elon’s eighth-annual Fall Environmental Forum. “There’s a line out there that all of us say, that green building costs more,” he said. “I can’t deny that it costs more. But no one ever says this: It also costs less.”
