Alumni Association Travel Program features 4 trips in 2010

Alumni are invited to join members of the Elon community on three exciting trips in 2010. This is your chance to see the Middle East, the Mediterranean or Austria.


Middle East Pilgrimage

June 28-July 12, 2010
• Spend 13 days journeying through Jordan, Israel and the Palestinian territories.
• Sponsored by the Truitt Center for Religious and Spiritual Life, the Middle East Pilgrimage will be hosted by President and Mrs. Lambert, Jim Pace, professor of religious studies, and Phil Smith, associate university chaplain.
• The journey is patterned after the Middle East Travel Seminar (METS), a 30-year-old program that provided seminary students opportunities to better understand the history, culture, geography and religious traditions of the Middle East.
• Cost: $5,000 per person, based on double occupancy; additional $500 for single accommodations. Fee includes all meals, porterage and guiding fees, and travel insurance.

Best of the Mediterranean & Greek Isles Cruise
October 11-24

• Twelve nights aboard Oceania Cruises’ Regatta to Venice, Italy; Dubrovnik, Croatia; Corfu, Delphi (Itea), Zakynthos, Monemvasia, Crete, Santorini, Delos, Mykonos and Athens, Greece; and Kasadasi, Turkey
• Cost: $3,299 to $6,099 per person for staterooms (double occupancy); taxes, fees and airport/ship transfers are not included; save $1,000 per person by booking a reservation for two
• Book your trip before January and receive free airfare from select gateway cities, including Atlanta, Boston, Charlotte, Chicago, Washington-Dulles, Newark, New York-Kennedy, Philadelphia and Raleigh-Durham

Holiday Markets on the Danube
November 29 – December 7, 2010

• Recapture the magic of the holidays and step into scenes that glitter with fairytale charm in Austria.
• Explore the mazes of wooden booths decorated with fragrant pine boughs and displaying unique, handcrafted decorations and gifts. The smell of warm glühwein, roasted chestnuts and spicy gingerbread will fill the air and tickle your senses as you immerse yourself in this beloved tradition.
• You also will get to know Austria’s great cities. Marvel at the opulent architecture of Vienna, Austria’s beloved capital, and meander along the streets of charming Salzburg, Mozart’s birthplace and the setting of one of the world’s most beloved films, “The Sound of Music.” Then explore the stunning abbey at Melk and discover Germany’s lovely Passau.
• Cost: $1,995 per person; additional fee for single accommodations.
