Strategies for Dealing with a Charge of Patent Infringement – March 16

The Patent Law Committee of the NC Bar Association’s Intellectual Property Law Section and Elon Law will co-host a roundtable presentation concerning "Strategies for Dealing with a Charge of Patent Infringement." Prior to the roundtable, the Committee will provide a primer on patent law for students interested in the practice area.

The program will take place on Tuesday, March 16 at 4:30 p.m. in Room 105 at Elon Law. A light reception will follow the presentation.

Please RSVP to Karen Chisnall at kchisnall@elon.edu by Wed., March 10.

The roundtable presentation will discuss litigation alternatives for accused patent infringers, and the advantages (or disadvantages) of using inter partes and ex parte reexamination proceedings before the United States Patent Office as part of a litigation strategy.

The presenters will be Robert D. Mason, Jr. and Greg Grissett, attorneys in the Intellectual Property practice group at Womble, Carlyle, Sandridge & Rice, PLLC.

Also in attendance will be B.B. Olive, Esq., a pioneer in intellectual property law in North Carolina who established, in 1957, the first patent law firm serving the Research Triangle Park.

This program is co-sponsored by the Elon Law student members of the NCBA IP Section and Elon Law’s Office of Career Services.
