DC Chapter Rebuilding Together Alexandria Service Event, April 24

Join fellow Elon alumni and participate in Rebuilding Day 2010, a service event with Rebuilding Together Alexandria.  Gather a team of volunteers and help us repair and make energy-efficient upgrades to in-need homeowners’ homes on April 24, 2010.

Alumni will be weeding, spreading mulch and cleaning the playground at Carpenter’s Shelter, a homeless shelter in Alexandria. Donations are strongly encouraged to help purchase supplies for the project. The event will begin at 8 a.m. and last until the project is complete, no later than 4 p.m. Register and/or make a donation at www.elon.edu/webservices/alumni. All collections will be donated by the Elon alumni team to Rebuilding Together Alexandria. Call toll-free 877-784-3566 for more information.

Without the services of Rebuilding Together Alexandria, there are few options available to residents to keep their homes safe, warm and dry. With the help of volunteers we preserve home ownership by maintaining the most affordable housing for our neighbors–their own homes.

Rebuilding Together Alexandria (formerly Christmas in April) partners with volunteers and communities to rehabilitate the homes of low-income homeowners so that they may continue to live independently with warmth and safety.

Since 1986, this non-profit organization has been committed to donating home repairs to the in-need families of our Alexandria, Virginia community.
