Who's new?

Corey Bass, Director of Football Operations

Corey isn’t a stranger to the Elon community, having served on campus as a marketing assistant with the Elon ISP Sports Network beginning in April 2009. He graduated from East Carolina University, where he played football for the Pirates, with a bachelor’s degree in communications and a master’s in exercise and sports sciences. Outside of work, Corey enjoys spending time with friends, family and his bulldog puppy, Champ, and taking part in “anything athletics related.” He looks forward to continuing to be a part of the Elon community because of its family atmosphere and the full support of the university in becoming more competitive on a national level in athletics.

Van Denton, Assistant Director of University Relations for Alumni Communications

A longtime North Carolina journalist, Van has worked for the (Raleigh, N.C.) News and Observer, the Asheville Citizen-Times and the Lenoir News-Topic in his hometown of Lenoir, N.C. He and his wife, Tali, live in Raleigh with their sons, Tal and Will, their dog, Buddy, and a Quaker parrot, Penn. Van, who along with his brother and sister were the first in their family to earn college degrees, says he feels fortunate to work at a university “committed to giving students not just the knowledge they need, but also the courage to follow their own dreams.” When he’s not at work, he enjoys playing “soccer dad” as manager of his son’s team, hiking, biking and reading biographies.

Jerrick Hall, Assistant Football Coach

Jerrick joins coach Pete Lembo’s staff as defensive line coach after serving in the same capacity for the past three seasons at Campbell University. A 2004 alumnus of North Carolina State University, he says Elon’s location and emphasis on integrity in academics and athletics drew him to the program. In his spare time, Jerrick enjoys traveling and visiting family.

Kim Walker, Photographer/Digital Imaging Manager, University Relations

A native of Hickory, N.C., Kim earned her bachelor’s degree in English from N.C. State, an associate’s in photojournalism from Randolph Community College and a master’s in photojournalism from Ohio University. She brings a diverse background in both news and freelance photography, and enjoys the variety of work and unique personalities she encounters at Elon. When not at work, she enjoys “stretching unnaturally in yoga,” biking, “traveling near and far,” playing her “beat-up bass guitar” and “admiring Stephen Colbert’s genius.”
