SunTrust Banks, Inc. announced that effective June 14, David Stevens '81 will become President and Chief Executive Officer of the company's Central Carolina Region. The position covers the I-40 corridor from Wilmington to Morganton and includes both the Triangle and the Triad areas of North Carolina.
Stevens previously worked with Wachovia/Wells Fargo, where he was Carolinas Business Banking Division Manager. Prior to that position, he was the company’s Piedmont Triad Regional President. He brings more than 28 years of banking experience to his new position with SunTrust.
A native of Fayetteville, N.C., Stevens earned his bachelor’s degree in business administration from Elon College in 1981. He maintains strong ties to Elon and the Martha and Spencer Love School of Business and serves on the Love School’s advisory board.
