Bookstore display highlights Career Services student development plan

Elon students who want to ensure they are on track to reach their career objectives now have a convenient way to measure their progress. For much of the academic year, a four-year student career development plan is on display in front of the university bookstore in the Moseley Center.

The Career Services display in front of the campus shop will be available for students to view for much of the year.

The display provides a general outline of how Career Services can assist Elon students by using individualized scenarios covering the freshman, sophomore, junior and senior year.

“There persists a misconception among some that students only need to use Career Services as a senior for job search help, but that is simply not the case,” said Ross Wade, assistant director of Career Services for the School of Communications. “Career Services can provide considerable assistance to students at any stage of their thinking about life after Elon.

“Freshman can come in to explore majors and career options, sophomores can come in to discuss resumes and internships, juniors can discuss graduate school research and application strategies – we are here to serve all of our students’ career development needs, not just the job search.”

To meet with one of the career professionals in Career Services, students can call x6538 (Main Career Center), stop by Duke 101, or e-mail careerservices@elon.edu

Students are also encouraged to visit the career services web site (http://www.elon.edu/careers) where they can sign up online for an appointment with a career counselor.

Finally, students are reminded that there are satellite career offices in both the Schools of Business and Communications for those majors.
