Class of 2011 kicks off Senior Class Giving Campaign

During this year’s Senior Class Giving Campaign, members of the Class of 2011 will be encouraged to make a gift to the university to show their support for their Elon experiences.

This year marks the first time that seniors will have the opportunity to contribute to the university’s annual funds, including Elon’s Greatest Needs, Phoenix Club, School of Law, or to the schools of education and communications, the Martha and Spencer Love School of Business or Elon College, the College of Arts and Sciences. In previous years, seniors have contributed to specific initiatives, including enabling fellow students to purchase textbooks or supporting study abroad experiences.

The university’s annual funds support important priorities such as student scholarships, facilities and the Elon Experiences (study abroad, undergraduate research, internships, leadership and service opportunities).

Also for the first time, seniors who make a gift will become members of IGNITE, Elon’s young alumni giving program. This is part of an effort to build a stronger culture of philanthropy at Elon, including helping students understand the importance of annual gifts to the university, and help seniors make the transition from undergraduates to members of Elon’s Alumni Association. Student donors will receive invitations to IGNITE events, where they can mingle and network with young alumni.

This year’s goal is 20 percent participation from the senior class. All gifts to this fund drive count toward the Ever Elon Campaign, which seeks to build the university’s endowment to support students, faculty and facilities.
