Writing as a Tool for Learning

sponsored by the Writing Across the Curriculum program

Wednesday, October 27, 4:15-5:30pm – Belk Pavilion room 201

It feels like we are always asking students to write. Yet, too often, we don’t get what we want. This workshop is for faculty who want to do a better job of creating writing assignments to foster student learning. We will explore how we can design and support writing assignments that advance learning, examine examples of writing from across the campus to help us understand how writing promotes thinking, and look at your writing activities and assignments so that you will leave the workshop with ideas for your own classes. Steve Braye (English/WAC) and Paula Patch (English) will facilitate the workshop. Please RSVP to Barbara Guy, so Steve and Paula know who to expect.
