Elon International Education Week Concert – Nov. 15

Yeager Recital Hall, 7:30 p.m.

The Elon Percussion Ensemble, under the direction of Jon Metzger, will perform the Toccata for Percussion Instruments by Carlos Chavez as part of Elon’s International Education Week 2010. IEW 2010 highlights Mexico and seeks to explore the nation’s history and culture as well as current issues in media, politics and economics. 2010 marks two significant anniversaries: the bicentennial of Mexico’s declaration of independence from Spain, and the centennial of the start of the Mexican Revolution. IEW 2010 is the perfect time for the Elon community to explore the past and present of the U.S.’s neighbor to the south.
