The Elon Mock Trial program will compete Nov. 12-13 among 66 teams from over 40 universities in the 22nd Annual Mid-South Mock Trial Invitational Tournament at Middle Tennessee State University in Murfreesboro, Tenn.
For the first time in its eight year history, Elon is sending three teams to an invitational tournament. The tournament, at 66 teams, is the largest tournament in the country for 2010-2011. The Elon team members in attendance represent students from all majors and departments.
This will be the third tournament of the season for the team. Elon Mock Trial recently competed at an invitational tournament at Brandeis University in Waltham, Mass. At Brandeis, Elon competed against teams from Boston University and Brown University, among others.
In October, Elon Mock Trial hosted its own tournament on Elon’s campus. Elon placed 10th in that tournament out of 26 teams and looks to achieve another Top Ten finish this weekend.
Among the teams in competition will be Rhodes College, The College of William & Mary, Vanderbilt University, the University of Georgia, the University of North Carolina, and the University of Tennessee.
Elon’s team has been preparing since the beginning of the August, meeting up to three times a week for more than two hours per gathering. Elon students in attendance this weekend are:
