Belk Library now has six Amazon Kindle e-book readers to loan to Elon students, faculty and staff. The Belk Kindles have pre-loaded titles, including 25 of the most popular Kindle books currently on sale at Amazon. Additional titles will be added at least once more during the academic year.
The library decided to purchase and lend Kindles for two reasons: to afford the Elon University community the opportunity to try a popular e-book reader format, and to offer another way to read popular books.
Belk Library already has popular books available in print, downloadable audiobooks and audiobooks on CD.
Kindles can be reserved through the Belk Catalog by searching the title “Kindle,” or by going directly to Kindle. The Kindle E-Readers user’s guide is available with a current list of book titles and other facts about Belk Kindles.
