Alexa Carlin, vice president of finance for the Elon student entrepreneurship club Student Entrepreneurial Enterprise Development (SEED) and a freshman entrepreneurship major, addressed an audience of more than 100 participants on Feb. 11 at the 3rd annual University Entrepreneurship Summit of North Carolina in Greensboro, N.C.
Carlin presented on engaging freshman to accelerate growth in university entrepreneurship programs. Carlin also moderated a discussion, along with Bennett College entrepreneurship student Kamiria Faison, on “Best Practices of University Entrepreneurship Programs.”
The Elon University Doherty Center for Entrepreneurial Leadership, Wake Forest University Angell Center for Entrepreneurship and Bennett College Center for Entrepreneurial Studies co-hosted the 3rd annual University Entrepreneurship Summit of North Carolina. One hundred and eleven leaders representing 44 universities and organizations in entrepreneurship initiatives, education and research from across the state participated in networking and discussions to advance the field of entrepreneurship.
“Interest in entrepreneurship continues to grow exponentially,” said Gary Palin, executive director of the Doherty Center for Entrepreneurial Leadership. “This summit provides an opportunity to share our knowledge and experience with nascent entrepreneurship programs.”
He said the objective of the summit was to share best practices, exchange ideas, form collaborations and to develop better integrated strategies.
