Elon University professors, students and alumni continue to make news this spring through their research and campus activities. Notable in April and May was regional media coverage Elon University's 121st Commencement exercises, faculty expertise related to the death of Osama bin Laden, and mention of the Elon University Poll in the Los Angeles Times and the (Raleigh, N.C.) News & Observer.

5/2: WXII 12: “Son Of Slain Soldier Reacts To Bin Laden’s Death” is an interview with Elon senior Nicholas Ochsner, whose father, Sgt. First Class Jim Ochsner, died in Afghanistan in 2005. 5/17: Fox 8 WGHP: “Is Judgment Day May 21? Or Not?” was a segment on Fox 8’s “Buckley Report” in which news reporter and anchor Bob Buckley interviewed Lynn Huber, an associate professor of religious studies, on what a few Christians allege is the date of Judgment Day.
5/18: (Burlington, N.C.) Times-News: “Elon prepares for 121st Commencement” shared details of the ceremonies planned for campus on May 21, 2011, when Elon confers 1,165 degrees on graduating seniors.

5/18: (Burlington, N.C.) Times-News: “Elon dormitory has a family legacy for one resident” profiles rising junior James Maynard, who lived in Maynard residence hall in 2010-11. The building was named for his great-grandparents and will be demolished to make room for the Global Neighborhood. The Maynard name will eventually be moved to a building in the Danieley Center.
