University message on the death of Lauren Astley ’15

Incoming freshman Lauren Astley '15 of Wayland, Mass., was killed this week in her hometown. As her family, friends and future Elon classmates mourn her loss, Smith Jackson, vice president for student life and dean of students, emailed the university community on July 6, 2011, with reflections on Astley's accomplishments and her service to the community.

Elon University to launch revised Teaching Fellows program in 2012-13

Elon University will revise its Teaching Fellows program following recent action by the North Carolina General Assembly to phase out funding for the North Carolina Teaching Fellows program. The new Elon fellows program will recruit outstanding students nationally as well as those from North Carolina who want to pursue careers in education.

In just his fifth season as head coach, Rod Whitesell '02 guided the Holly Springs Golden Hawks baseball team to the North Carolina 4A Baseball Championship on Saturday, clinching the title with a 11-5 victory over Asheville's Roberson High School at Five County Stadium in Zebulon.
Matt Shingledecker ’08 joins Off-Broadway production of ‘Rent’
