Omri Shimron, assistant professor of music, was invited to present a lecture-demonstration at the Chautauqua Institution's Piano Department on July 26.
The lecture was titled “Frederic Rzewski’s The People United Will Never Be Defeated! (1975): Origins, Style, Structure, and Pianism.”
On Sept. 15, Shimron will perform this work in its entirety at Elon. While in residence at Chautauqua, Shimron also performed a two-piano/eight-hands concert with members of the piano faculty on Friday, July 29, in Lenna Hall.
