The American Chemical Society has honored Elon President Emeritus J. Earl Danieley '46 this fall with a certificate recognizing 60 years of service.
The society, the oldest and largest organization for chemists, chemical engineers and other related professions, recognized Danieley with a certificate that notes its grateful appreciation for his dedication to the discipline.
Danieley began his career teaching chemistry at Elon immediately following his college graduation in 1946. He joined the American Chemical Society in 1952. He was one of 546 members worldwide this year to receive the honor marking six decades of service, said John Gardiner, part of the Society’s membership division.
The Society currently counts 163,000 people on its rolls.
“He’s part of a very small group of members,” Gardiner said. “Dr. Danieley and the other 60 year members represent a very dedicated group of chemistry professionals.”
