Elon exceeds NCAA graduation standards

The NCAA has released its annual Graduation Success Rate (GSR) scores and the Elon programs continued to perform well.

The team scores released included data from the 2001-2004 cohorts, which allowed student-athletes six years to graduate.

Of Elon’s 14 sports (cross country and track and field are combined), 11 exceeded the national GSR for all NCAA Division I members. Four programs – men’s golf, women’s golf, women’s cross country/track and volleyball – all posted a 100 percent GSR. Five other Phoenix teams posted a GSR of 91 or above. All 14 programs posted a GSR of at least 80.

The Phoenix’s overall GSR of 90 rates fourth in the Southern Conference.

Developed by the NCAA as part of its academic reform initiative, the GSR is used to assess the academic success of student-athletes.
