AP names Elon’s Aaron Mellette an All-American

Standout junior wide receiver Aaron Mellette has been named to the AP's All-America first team for the DIvision I Football Championship Subdivision.

Aaron Mellette tallied nine 100-yard and two 200-yard receiving games this season.

Mellette appeared on the AP’s All-America second team in 2010.

In 2011, Mellette led all FCS receivers in receptions per game (10.27) and receiving yards per game (149). His 1,639 receiving yards set Elon and Southern Conference records, surpassing the 1,633 yards gained by Mellette’s former teammate and fellow standout receiver Terrell Hudgins in 2009.

Mellette’s recognition means Elon football has had at least one AP All-American in each of the past seven seasons.
