Teresa LePors, Coordinator of Library Public Services, and Derek Rodriguez, Program Officer with the Triangle Research Libraries Network in Chapel Hill, presented a session at the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges annual conference in Orlando, Florida on December 4, 2011.
The presentation was entitled “The Understanding Library Impacts Protocol: Demonstrating Library Contributions to Student Learning Outcomes.” The Understanding Library Impacts protocol is designed to link students’ information seeking behavior to discipline-specific learning outcomes. The presentation outlined the protocol, discussed the findings from a spring 2011 pilot study which included surveying Elon senior history majors, and reported on the study from a participating library’s perspective.
