Samantha DiRosa’s work included in exhibition on water

A triptych of photographs from Associate Professor of Digital Art and Environmental Studies Samantha DiRosa's body of work Gathering Dust: Sediment/Sentiment, was included in K Space Contemporary's group exhibition on the theme of water, titled Watered Down: The Ebb and the Flow, in Corpus Christi, Texas.

The piece included is titled “Fan” and responds to the geomorphological definition of fan as: an “outspread, gently sloping mass of material deposited by a stream; where a stream issues from a narrow canyon onto a plain valley or floor.” The series explores layered narratives regarding geology, memory, and human occupation of the landscape. Inspired by the study of landforms (geomorphology), Gathering Dust: Sediment/Sentiment uses the concept of sedimentation to explore issues of sentimentality and is a collaboration with Landscape Architecture professor and poet Jolie B. Kaytes. The work is on view at K Space Contemporary Gallery in Corpus Christi, Texas, through August 24.
