"Jews and Hip Hop Music" is this week's topic for "Ginn and Jews" a weekly program of eclectic Jewish topics hosted by Ginny Vellani, the Elon Hillel Development and Jewish Life Associate. The program will be on Monday October 22 from 7:30-8:30pm
Vellani will discuss and share music and music videos from hip hop artists including Drake, Shyne, Matisyahu, and Kosha Dillz. “It is incredibly interesting how the Jewish experiences and identities of these artists feeds into their artistry,” according to Vellani. “You will be surprised to discover the range of Jewish observance and style.”
The program is informal and open to the entire community. Free PIZZA will be provided and no RSVPs are necessary.
“Most surprisingly, none of these rappers share the same racial or ethnic backgrounds. They are all practicing Jews or identify as Jewish, but are a very diverse group.”
