Karen Yokley has recent accomplishments in Mathematical Art

Assistant Professor of Mathematics Karen Yokley has had two recent achievements in the field of Mathematical Art.

Yokley’s painting “Golden Approximation” was featured in the 2012 Joint Mathematics Meetings Exhibition of Mathematical Art, Boston, MA, January 4-7, 2012, organized by the Bridges Organization (http://bridgesmathart.org/). The painting focused on an artistic representation of the golden spiral from the perspective of an applied mathematician. Yokley also designed the cover art for the Fundamentals of Algebra and Trigonometry Workbook (Custom Edition for North Carolina A&T State University). She plans to bring her love of mathematics in art to a new General Studies course (GST 435: Art Through a Mathematical Lens) in Winter 2013.
