Elon’s Theta Epsilon chapter of Sigma Iota Epsilon held its Fall 2012 initiation ceremony on November 1 in LaRose Digital Theatre.
Sigma Iota Epsilon (SIE) is the premiere fraternal organization in management in the U.S. It encourages and recognizes scholastic excellence, as well as promotes cooperation between the academic and practical aspects of management.
The Theta Epsilon chapter, which was founded at Elon last fall, initiated 14 undergraduate students, three MBA candidates and 10 faculty members.
The chapter’s advisor, Haya Ajjan, assistant professor of management information systems, shared the news that the chapter was named the National Runner-up Chapter of the Year by the SIE national office and received a $500 grant to advance the chapter’s programs within the Love School of Business.
The national office commended the chapter on their successful efforts to recruit and grow programs to support SIE.
“This organization has a lot of potential,” said Kelly Smith ‘14, SIE chapter president. “It is wonderful to see the national office recognizing the programming and events we have done so far. I’m so excited to see what SIE will accomplish in the years to come.”
Smith was also awarded a scholarship from the national office for her work with SIE.
