On March 9, the Elon Law team of Jenifer McCrea L'13, Christian Robin L'14 and John Warren L'13 advanced from preliminary rounds to reach the regional semifinals of the ABA National Appellate Advocacy Competition in Washington, D.C.
Forty teams from law schools across the country registered for the Washington, D.C. super-regional. Elon Law was also well represented by the team of Jennifer Bobowski L’14, David Lambert L’14 and Patrick Ward L’14, which presented strong arguments and narrowly missed advancing as well.
This success at the ABA Competition followed a strong showing in the 36th annual J. Braxton Craven, Jr. Memorial Competition at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, where the team of Meg Sparger L’13 and Andy Jones L’13 advanced from the preliminary rounds to the “sweet sixteen” of the competition.
The moot court board next looks forward to hosting the third annual Billings, Exum & Frye National Moot Court Competition from April 4-6. Thirty-five teams from 24 law schools across the country are competing this year. Over 100 judges and lawyers will judge the oral argument rounds, and several members of the North Carolina Supreme Court and Court of Appeals are slated to participate.
