Public Policy Polling: Voters disapprove of governor's public records policy

Public Policy Polling (12/12/13): In a poll released Thursday, Public Policy Polling asked voters about the policy of Gov. Pat McCrory's administration to charge for public records requests that take more than 30 minutes to fulfill. Sixty-two percent of voters don't approve.

Gov. Pat McCrory’s administration instituted a new public records policy earlier this year that requires state agencies to charge for requests that take more than 30 minutes to fulfill. The policy is based on the section of the public records law that allows for a special service charge for extradordinary requests. The polling agency asked voters whether they agree or disagree with the new policy. The results: 62 percent disagree and only 23 percent agree. Read the full poll here.
