Poet.she – Spoken Word Event – Feb. 20

The Black History Month Steering Committee invites you to a night of spoken word presented by the ladies of Poet.she.

Date: February 20, 2014

Location: Irazu Coffee Shop

Time:  7 p.m.

A nonprofit organization based in Greensboro, N.C., the organization was created by Kelly Rae Williams, Paula Latham and Tree Hill, and inspired by the renowned poet and N.C. A &T University Creative Writing Department Director, Dr. Anjul Ahmad, in 2010. Poet.she was started on the basis that women’s voices in the arts community needed to be stronger and more visible. All of the founders are active members of the art community, published writers and poets, and accomplished performers. They all saw the need for a collective umbrella organization for female poets and performers.

In efforts to increase the female artistic presence in the Greensboro community, Poet.she started organizing monthly performing arts events and programs.

The Poet.she team is made up of a variety of female artists and writers from all ages and walks of life.
