The Elon University professor of history spoke with the North Carolina television station on June 6, 2014, about the Allies' D-Day invasion of Europe 70 years earlier.
Professor David Crowe in the Department of History and Geography offered commentary and analyis for North Carolina television news viewers on June 6, 2014, when he spoke with WFMY News 2 in Greensboro about the 70th anniversary of the D-Day invasion of Europe.
Crowe is a prolific scholars and author on war crimes and genocide, the Holocaust, and Nazi industrialist-turned-Jewish rescuer Oskar Schindler, having published books on all three subjects in recent years.
WFMY asked Crowe what would have happened had the Allies failed in their efforts to invade Europe from the beaches of Normandy, France.
“The alternative would have been either Hitler and Stalin could have rejoined an alliance,” Crowe told WFMY News anchor Frank Mickens. “Theoretically we could have had a Soviet dominated Europe or Soviet German dominated Europe.”
