Kirby Wahl coaches actors in dialect in performances of The Iron Curtain Trilogy

The associate professor of performing arts assisted with The Burning Coal Theatre Company's recent production of three shows.

Associate Professor Kirby Wahl in the Department of Performing Arts served as the professional dialect coach for The Burning Coal Theatre Company’s productions of three plays, collectively called The Iron Curtain Trilogy, by British playwright David Edgar.

Wahl coached the actors in more than a dozen accents, including Turkish, Russian, Finnish, Irish and Sinhalese. The shows – “Pentecost,” “The Shape of the Table,” and “The Prisoner’s Dilemma” – have already run for three weeks in rotating repertoire in Raleigh and made a three-week run in London this fall at The Cockpit Theatre.
