New Intern at Gender and LGBTQIA Center

A graduate student at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro is the newest addition to the Gender and LGBTQIA Center.

The Gender and LGBTQIA Center welcomes Niki Paganelli as the Spring 2015 graduate intern.

Paganelli is currently a graduate assistant at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro in the Office of Multicultural Affairs and works as a social justice educator on campus and in the community. She is currently pursuing her master’s degree in Higher Education Administration and hopes to continue her work around diversity and multiculturalism in a higher education setting upon graduating.

No stranger to community organizations, Paganelli worked to advance the LGBT Center of Raleigh bymaking their library resources more user-friendly and substantial for the community to utilize.  She also has taken student groups to San Francisco on service trips to better prepare homeless LGBTQIA youth for professional job opportunities.

In her role at Elon, Paganelli will be assisting the Gender & LGBTQIA Center with the institutional three-year strategic plan for LGBTQIA inclusion created by the Presidential LGBTQIA Task Force.

Additional projects include research for educational trainings on gender and sexuality as well as creating a standard orientation and resources to enhance the leadership potential of the Gender and LGBTQIA Center’s 15 student volunteers.  She will also serve as a friendly face and mentor to the growing population of student workers and student volunteers across the Gender & LGBTQIA Center.
