Jimmy Curiazza recognized for fundraising efforts to fight cancer

The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society’s North Carolina chapter recognized Elon’s Jimmy Curiazza at a recent volunteer banquet.

For the past few years, Curiazza has constructed holiday light displays at his home in Gibsonville, N.C., where he collects donations for the LLS to support the families of those living with blood cancer, and the researchers who are seeking cures to the disease.

Curiazza, a plumbing mechanic in the university’s Physical Plant, received a certificate of appreciation alongside his wife, Tracy, and their children. Curiazza’s younger brother died of leukemia during the 1967 holiday season.

Curiazza is still accepting donations through the LLS website for those interested in supporting his efforts.
