The first ever Shoot to Cure event is happening this Sunday, May 3rd as contestants will have the chance to make as many 3-point shots in 3 minutes! 

Retired General David Petraeus pleaded guilty in Charlotte last week to leaking classified materials to his mistress and biographer. The sentencing report, which is typically public, was sealed in Petraeus' case. The Charlotte Observer, Associated Press, Bloomberg, Reporters Committee for Freedom of the Press, New York Times,  NPR, Washington Post, and Wall Street Journal joined together to request the documents be made public. 

Elon University hosts its second annual celebration of the arts & sciences in May with a daylong festival that includes hands-on educational activities for all ages and a new 5K run/walk to benefit a student-run charity that fights hunger in Alamance County.

The latest Elon University Poll found that a majority of North Carolina registered voters don't support legislation that would allow business owners with strong faith convictions to refuse service to people who are gay or lesbian.
