Alumni donors to be recognized at Commencement

Thousands of alumni donors who have chosen to pay it forward for future Elon alumni will receive special recognition at this year's Commencement ceremony as part of the Share your Chair project.

Sharon McIntyre Wheeler ’78, Ian Baltutis ’08 and Courtney Vaughn ’15 explain in a video what Commencement meant to them and why they have chosen to share their chair with members of the graduating class.
Wednesday, May 18, is the last day for alumni to make a gift and share the chair with a graduating senior at this year’s Commencement ceremony on May 21.

All alumni who make a gift to support any area of Elon before May 18 will have their name placed on the back of a graduating senior’s Commencement chair, wishing them well and welcoming them into the alumni family. The new program is a way for alumni to remember their own Commencement, which marks the end of the student experience and the beginning of the alumni journey, while honoring the family members, faculty, staff and alumni donors who helped them reach that milestone.

Alumni who support Elon help provide the resources the university needs to deliver astudent-centered learning environment that challenges students to think globally and develop bold ideas to create positive change in the world. Watch the short video below to hear what some alumni have to say about their Commencement experience and the reasons they have chosen to share their chair with a member of the class of 2016.

Alumni who have not already supported the university this year can become one of more than 5,000 Elon alumni who will share their chair with a graduating senior at Commencement by making a gift online or by calling (336) 278-7444 by May 18. Alumni are encouraged to show their Elon pride by sharing their graduation photos on social media using #ElonGrad.
