Twenty-four students join the 125 working professionals and full-time students studying in the program.
Elon University welcomed 24 candidates in the Elon MBA program during a Sept. 5 orientation session. Eight are participating in the dual degree JD/MBA program in partnership with Elon Law, and five are primarily taking classes at the Elon MBA Research Triangle Park (RTP) campus.
The candidates come from a variety of backgrounds, representing undergraduate degrees including business administration, finance, animal biotechnology and conservation, computer information systems, political science, psychology, and criminology. The cohort earned degrees from Elon University, University of Wisconsin – Madison, Bryan College, Guilford College, Western Carolina University, North Carolina Wesleyan College, High Point University, University of North Carolina – Greensboro, Roanoke College, Delaware Valley College, Concordia College, University of North Carolina – Chapel Hill, East Carolina University, Fayetteville State University, North Carolina State University, University of Florida, University of Ghana, and NWFP Agricultural University Peshawar (Pakistan).
During the orientation session, Provost Steven House, Dean Raghu Tadepalli and Associate Dean Jen Platania welcomed the group to Elon. They spoke about Elon’s commitment to engaged learning and opportunities the MBA offers.
Rob Moorman, Frank S. Holt Professor of Business Leadership, shared information about the winter 2018 global engagement experience to Singapore and Vietnam. As part of the international business course, students have the opportunity to spend 10 days abroad examining the challenges and opportunities presented by doing business in Southeast Asia. During summer 2018, the international business course will include a study abroad component to Europe.
The cohort also heard from members of the MBA/MScM Student Alumni Association, who encouraged the group to take advantage of the networking opportunities the association organizes.
