Elon business students provide free tax help through VITA program

IRS-certified volunteers provide free basic income tax return preparation with electronic filing to qualified individuals.

Elon Martha and Spencer Love School of Business students who are IRS-certified to prepare basic tax returns are volunteering through the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program to offer free tax help to people in the Burlington area who generally make $54,000 or less.

VITA volunteers are available to prepare returns on the following Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Elon’s Downtown Center at 217 E. Davis in Burlington: Feb. 23, March 2, March 9 and April 6.

Elon employees and international students can set up appointments during the week by emailing Professor of Accounting Susan Anderson, VITA faculty coordinator, at sanderson26@elon.edu.
