B Corps 101 — March 13

At this event, leaders from a North Carolina Certified B Corporation will provide an overview of the structure, mission, and shared goals of Certified B Corporations, and answer questions from attendees regarding these entities.

Have you ever wondered what B Corps are all about?

B Corps (Certified B Corporations) are for-profit businesses that consider the impact their operations have on all stakeholders. This includes their employees, Board of Directors, customers, suppliers, communities, and environment. Certified B Corps are businesses that meet the highest standards of verified social and environmental performance, public transparency, and legal accountability to balance profit and purpose.

At present, there are over 2,500 certified B Corps operating in over 125 industries and over 50 countries. All of these corporations have the same goal of using business as a force for good to create an inclusive, equitable, and sustainable economy for all.

The Redwoods Group (based in Morrisville, N.C.) is a Certified B Corp specializing in insurance and risk management services. Insuring over 400 YMCAs, Boys & Girls Clubs, Jewish Organizations, and Camps, Redwoods uses the insurance transaction as a way to catalyze behavior change, reduce injuries, and ultimately make communities safer.

At this event, Dan Norber (Chief Data Officer of The Redwoods Group) and Lizzie Conley (Elon Class of 2018 and Marketing Associate of The Redwoods Group) will provide an overview of the structure, mission, and shared goals of Certified B Corporations, and answer questions from attendees regarding these entities.
