Savchak-Trogdon offers insight on the Supreme Court and the 2020 Democratic race

Elisha Savchak-Trogdon, assistant professor of political science and policy studies, was quoted by the Washington Times in a recent article about the topic of the Supreme Court as it relates to the Democratic presidential nominee race.

As the race for the Democratic presidential nomination continues, Assistant Professor of Political Science and Policy Studies Elisha Savchak-Trogdon has been featured in an article about an issue that could play an important role in the next presidential election.

The Washington Times article, “‘To their own peril’: 2020 Democrats sidestep fight for Supreme Court,” covers the lack of discussion about potential Supreme Court vacancies in recent Democratic presidential nominee debates. Savchak-Trogdon told the Washington Times Democratic candidates could be doing more to use their personal stories to highlight the importance of the high court.

“They have an opportunity to speak about that in an authentic way and they don’t seem to be capitalizing on that the way they should be,” Savchak-Trogdon said.

The article goes on to discuss why the Supreme Court has not been more of a central focus in the Democratic nominee race. Read the entire Washington Times article here.
