Kelsey Harris ’14 has been named to the inaugural class of the Triad Business Journal’s “20 in their 20s,” which recognizes young leaders for their success in their fields and contributions to their local communities.

Kelsey Harris ’14

A standout member of the women’s basketball team during her time at Elon, Harris now serves as assistant director of women’s basketball for the Atlantic Coast Conference, which is based in Greensboro, N.C. While reaching the 1,000-career point milestone as a senior at Elon, she was also an All-SoCon Team selection by both the coaches and the media and was named to the All-SoCon Tournament Team. An academic all-conference team honoree, Harris represented the team on the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee, volunteered at the Positive Attitudes Youth Center and was a mentor in the athletic academic support office.

In her role at the ACC, Harris has, among other things, served as a coordinator of the ACC Women’s Basketball Tournament held each year at the Greensboro Coliseum.

Asked by the Triad Business Journal about how the Triad can better retain young professionals, Harris noted that the region has changed significantly since she was an undergraduate. “For Greensboro specifically, I would continue to focus on the colleges in the area to tap into the potential for young professionals, specifically for young Black professionals,” Harris told the regional business publication. “Being intentional in recruiting minority professionals and providing inclusive spaces for all will continue to increase the amount of young professionals who want to stay in the area after graduation.”
