Very little snow fell overnight in the region and the university will open on the regular schedule on Thursday
UPDATE: Elon University and Elon University School of Law will operate on the normal schedule on Thursday, Jan. 28. Precipitation overnight was mostly rain, with a light dusting of snow on some grassy areas. Use caution when driving or walking this morning since there may be some ice on surfaces until the temperatures warm up.
The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Weather Advisory for north central North Carolina from midnight Wednesday through 8 a.m. Thursday. A storm system crossing the region tonight combined with cold air moving in from the north will result in a changeover from rain to snow. Forecasts call for about 1-2 inches of snow, causing some slippery road conditions in some places. Elon University’s physical plant will bring in staff early Thursday to clear campus sidewalks and roads.
At this time, there are no plans to alter the university’s operating schedule. This message will be updated as necessary as the forecast changes throughout the day.
