Death of retired faculty member Bob Anderson

Anderson retired in 2012 as an associate professor of political science.

Robert “Bob” Anderson, a retired Department of Political Science faculty member, died Monday, April 12. He was 75.

Anderson came to Elon in 1984 as assistant to President J. Fred Young, helping with the coordination and implementation of many important and transformative programs at the university. He was a devoted associate professor of political science during his 28-year career at Elon and he retired in 2012. In addition to his title of associate professor, Anderson held several other titles throughout his long career with Elon including  coordinator of special programs, director of foundation and government relations, special assistant to the president and coordinator of Elon Experience. His devotion and contributions to Elon have left a lasting impact with students, colleagues, and the university.

A graveside service will be held on Saturday, April 17, at 11 a.m. at Magnolia Cemetery, 201 South Oak St. in Elon. The family is being served by Lowe Funeral Home, 2205 South Church Street, Burlington.
