President Connie Ledoux Book named to list of ‘Outstanding Women in Business’

The list by the Triad Business Journal recognizes the contributions of women business leaders in central North Carolina.

President Connie Ledoux Book has been honored as one of the region’s “Outstanding Women in Business” by the Triad Business Journal, which covers business news in central North Carolina.

Book was one of 40 honorees recognized by the media outlet online, in its print edition and during a virtual event held on Thursday, June 10.

In an article recognizing Book as a business leader in the community, the Triad Business Journal points to her as “a visionary for higher education” and a trailblazer as the first female provost at The Citadel and the first female president at Elon. “At Elon, she’s an outspoken advocate for diversity, equity and inclusion and is leading the charge with Elon’s strategic plan through 2030,” the Triad Business Journal notes. “Additionally, despite Covid, she’s successfully kept the college campus open since August.”

Asked what achievement she was most proud of, Book told the Triad Business Journal, that “each time I work with people and programs to raise opportunities for a student to attend college, opening the door to what I know is a life-changing event, makes me so grateful to be in my role.”
