Barker and Doehler present DEI research at International Conference on Teaching Statistics

Barker and Doehler presented their original research related to the Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI) Initiatives Inventory that they developed.

Heather Barker, assistant professor of statistics, and Kirstie Doehler, associate professor of statistics, presented a session entitled, “Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Initiatives Inventory for Introductory College Statistics Courses,” at the International Conference on Teaching Statistics on Monday, September 12 in Rosario, Argentina.

Findings from administering the survey to several hundred instructors of introductory statistics courses were discussed. Results showed how statistics instructors are infusing DEI themes into their courses and constraints that prevent them from doing so.
