Elon’s Lambda Xi chapter of Beta Alpha Psi received international recognition for its academics, professionalism and leadership.
Beta Alpha Psi (BAP), the honor organization for financial information students and professionals, recognized Elon’s Lambda Xi BAP chapter as a “Superior Chapter” for the 2021-22 academic year.
“Under the leadership of Professor [Patty] Cox, the Lambda Xi chapter has far exceeded the baseline requirements of Beta Alpha Psi and has excelled in the areas of academics, professionalism and leadership,” said Kimberly Ellison-Taylor, 2022-23 BAP president.
The Lambda Xi chapter offers accounting and finance students the opportunity to expand their professional networks, increase their knowledge about financial information professions and employers, and serve the local community. During this past academic year, the chapter hosted a combination of virtual and hybrid meetings and worked closely with members to find what meeting style best suited them and how to keep members engaged.
“I am so proud of our 2021-22 officers who persevered during the pandemic to continue to make Beta Alpha Psi a meaningful experience for members,” said Patty Cox, faculty advisor and assistant professor of accounting. “The officers continued to host weekly meetings with professionals, and even continued service opportunities through virtual tutoring and Junior Achievement. The executive board, under the leadership of Giavanna Papavero ’22 G’22, cast the vision, and the members responded! It’s wonderful to receive this recognition!”
“Having been a member of Beta Alpha Psi since my first year at Elon, I have seen our chapter grow and evolve to offer new and exciting professional development experiences to members as well as meaningful connections between current members and our extensive alumni network,” said Julianne Jarek ’23, who serves as the 2022-23 chapter vice president. “This year, we are excited about our growth in membership, with approximately 60 members in attendance at our weekly meetings.”
