Donors mark a decade of generosity on 10th annual Elon Day

The Elon community came together and raised over $2.6 million for students during Elon Day 2023 on Tuesday, March 7.

The university’s annual day of giving, Elon Day, reached the 10-year mark on Tuesday, March 7, as thousands of donors around the world participated by wearing their Elon gear, making gifts and spreading the word about the day on social media.

The Elon community raised $2,601,936 from 5,134 gifts and participated in several challenges and matches throughout the day, leading to the announcement of eight new endowments.

Donations will provide scholarships that increase access to an Elon education and strengthen the experience of every student on campus as they engage across a variety of designations including academic schools and departments, Elon Athletics, student organizations and more.

Elon Day 2023 - 5,134 gifts and $2.6 million raised“Elon alumni, parents, grandparents, faculty, staff, students and friends once again came together in unity to support this great university,” said James B. Piatt Jr., vice president for university advancement. “The impact of each gift will continue to support Elon students in their pursuits to learn and grow into graduates the world needs. Thank you to everyone for their support on this 10th Elon Day.”

Since the first Elon Day in 2014, donors have given more than 45,000 gifts and $19 million to support students in honor of the day.

In addition to making gifts, more than 2,800 students, faculty, staff and alumni attended a variety of on-campus and regional events. Elon hosted five events on campus including two College Coffees, a Pop-Up Student Lounge, Let’s Taco ’Bout Philanthropy and a Senior Toast. Elon alumni regional chapters also hosted a total of 46 events across the world.
